 Personal Note from Kim Clapham

Happy Valentine’s Day, or Friendship Day as it is called here in Mexico….
A time not only to acknowledge your sweetheart but especially a time for us to take a moment and be thankful not only for our friends and family, and also acquaintances that we often do not take the moment to tell them how special they are to us, or thank them for just being a part of our lives.

So this Valentine’s Day, from us here at Terramar and myself personally, I would like YOU to know, that we appreciate you and are grateful for all that you are beyond the obligations of professional relationship. So often our meetings are so very brief, but every one of them adds to the Joy of the Day and the fabric of our lives.

Thank you, for being you, and being a part of our lives too…

Baja Scouting & Location Management is the most exciting business venture in 2006!  In order to showcase the Baja Peninsula like never before, Baja Scouting & Location Management caters to the services needed in media, theatrical and commercial film productions, reality TV, still photography, and more!

Baja Scouting & Location Management has come to Baja and Los Cabos at the perfect time!  As film productions, calendar shoots, and more, are in search of an affordable, exotic, desert, oasis, or beach location, we can acquire your permits for your production endeavor, whichever type it may be.  In addition, we also secure that super-posh surrounding that can only be found in Los Cabos at the various villas, high-end hotels, and private mansions available to you in our library of locations.

Allowing for the most visually stunning masterpieces, we assist you in capturing either the culturally rich, traditional aspects of Mexico in the Baja region or make the arrangements to produce in the trend-setting, Los Cabos.  We have the ability, and experience, and knowledge, to assist you in finding that plush lobby in a fabulous hotel, arranging the shooting permits, and coordinating all of the management and services at pre-determined locations for our clientele.

Baja Scouting & Location Management is a team of highly experienced location directors, managers and scouts, with backgrounds in still photography, feature films, television, media, and commercial shoots.  In addition, our team has worked within the entertainment industry in Hollywood, not to mention, having an abundance of experience in other facets of production and media such as: marketing, public relations, print, live entertainment coordination, in the likes of Los Cabos, Mexico City, and Los Angeles.

Baja Scouting & Location Management has the ability to render services for, and location manage, smaller productions or shoots, all the way up to being equipped with the tools that can provide services needed for a major production such as TROY, which was filmed locally in Los Cabos in 2003.  Baja Scouting & Location Management looks forward to assisting any and all media-related projects, film productions, still photography and calendar shoots, providing services such as décor, props, catering, accommodations, and whatever else might be needed anywhere in the Baja Peninsula.

Get Kissed by the Mexican Sun with United Airlines. New Services as of March this year, United will have 91 weekly departures from its hubs to Mexico -- a 30 percent increase over last year. Since last March, United has added four completely new Mexico routes to its schedule: Los Angeles-Cancun, Denver-Mexico City, Chicago-Puerto Vallarta and Chicago-San Jose del Cabo (Cabo San Lucas). Also last year, United increased daily service between Los Angeles and Mexico City.
"We are pleased to further expand our service in Mexico just in time for spring travel," said Greg Taylor, senior vice president-Planning. "We are committed to providing our customers even more travel options to Mexico, and we are hopeful that the Department of Transportation will approve our pending applications for additional Mexico service."

United's low-fare guarantee pledges that customers will find the lowest fares on united.com. Customers will earn 1,000 bonus miles every time they purchase qualifying travel at united.com, and also may earn 500 bonus miles each time they check in for a United flight using EasyCheck-in Online at united.com before June 30, 2006. Together, these bonus mile offers enable customers to earn an additional 2,000 miles per flight.

Airport renovations. The Los Cabos International Airport is currently experiencing a reconstruction process that will be completed in the spring of 2006 in order to accommodate the influx of visitors to the destination. Temporarily, arrival halls at both terminals are under construction which may be initially confusing and possibly time-consuming for arriving passengers. The current areas of construction are in the transition area, where clients depart building for “meet and greet.”

Therefore, we are asking that you advise clients with this information in advance, indicating they look for the Terramar representative, company logo and name immediately outside of the temporary exit (this may not be ‘to the right’ as were previous standards, and may even change throughout the project). We will ensure the smoothest possible arrival procedure during the period.

Terramar Specialized guides. Terramar incorporates a unique division all of its own, with 12 specialty guides who are “tops” in the Baja Peninsula.  We have recruited and found some of the best and most knowledgeable people from around Mexico, with years of experience and knowledge working within the industry of tourism.

Two of our Terramar Tour guides are “Specialists” whom score top honors and recognition, being licensed with federal credentials and have the ability to give tours anywhere within the continent of North America.  The minimum Terramar accepts is state credentials for any of our guides, and we currently have an additional 11 state-credentialed guides working within our company.

The Terramar Tour “Specialists” are a group of individuals who have all passed a rigid qualification program beginning with such basic requirements as a high school diploma, voters registration, 80% English requirements, a minimum of 560 hours of course-work and 150 hours of field work in the following areas:

Archeology, Modern and Contemporary Art, Pre-Hispanic Art, Colonial Art, Ethnography and Popular Art, Geography, Mexican History, General Art History, Interpersonal Human Relations, Group Conduction and Operations, Touristy Legislation, Touristy Culture, Botany, Marine Life, Mammals, Herpetology, Eco-History, Environmental Interpretation, Service Quality, and more….

Terramar has sponsored 20 of its employees in the participation in the aforementioned training requirements in order to get their guide certifications.  In conjunction with Terramar’s Educational Program in 2004, another group of guides participated on the NAI (National Association of interpretation) Interpretative Guide Certification course.

During our three years co-operating with Lindblad Expeditions, Terramar has organized three interpretative guide workshops that included Naturalist from both Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic.  The reason for our “share the wealth” company philosophy is because we feel that we all have something to learn on a daily basis.  This constant learning provides our clientele with the best, most accurate information, during any of the tours we operate which ensures excellence in services delivered.

You will find our guides at Terramar giving an array of tours with the Baja Outback, the Terramar Leisure Division for wholesaler and individual travelers, Group and Incentives programs and their activities or tours, the Lindblad/ National Geographic tours to the San Javier Mission site, tours to Loreto and the mission site located in that city, as well as transfers between San Jose del Cabo to La Paz, La Paz to San Carlos, or San Carlos to Loreto.

Currently, Terramar is the DMC of choice when considering professionalism, abundance of information, and meeting the state and federal requirements according to the Mexican Board of Tourism, when contacting our Specialty Guide Division.  In the very near future, our exceptionally qualified and specialized guides will participate in the educational tours to San Carlos to share their knowledge with both local and international tourists who find the Baja Peninsula as interesting and remarkable as our guides do.  Terramar is the leader in Los Cabos because we are passionate about the place we call home, Baja California Sur, while “delivering unparalleled service.”
